INDUSTRY

  • Manufacturing & Distribution

Operating across the U.S., Europe, and Asia on different back-office stacks, the client faced slow month-end closes, duplicated customizations, and brittle handoffs between ERP, CRM, and shop-floor tools. On-prem systems covered only part of the footprint; other regions ran separate solutions, creating latency, compliance overhead, and fragmented reporting. Leadership set a goal to unify on a single cloud ERP while preserving mission-critical processes such as repairs/RMA and high-volume labeling for components.

LeanCoded executed a global migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain, consolidating finance, manufacturing, inventory, warehousing, and returns on one platform. We integrated CRM, engineering repositories, barcode scanners, and Power Apps workflows to replace legacy utilities. Post go-live, ~400 employees worked in a unified system; printing for ~15,000 distinct part labels continued without disruption; repair/RMA moved from custom tools to governed low-code apps synchronized with ERP and CRM in real time.

From Regional Silos to a Single Source of Truth

Discovery highlighted three pain points: regional ERP divergence, bespoke integrations that broke frequently, and manual workarounds for repair intake. Acting as an api development company, we designed versioned partner contracts, standardized gateways, and reusable connectors so each domain could evolve independently without breaking downstream processes. Master data was consolidated, and finance/supply templates became the baseline for all regions.

Delivery emphasized controlled speed. Using devops services, we implemented solution-aware ALM, environment promotion, automated regression packs, and blue/green deployment for integration services. Power Platform was introduced where it reduced risk and time: a model-driven app handled repair management, while a canvas app captured floor details and synchronized them with ERP/CRM. Result: less swivel-chair work, auditable data flows, and predictable quarterly releases.

Engineering That Preserves What Matters—and Improves the Rest

Critical edge processes were hardened instead of rewritten. Shop-floor scanners now feed testing data and part numbers into the right ERP forms with guardrails for accuracy. Print services were re-platformed to keep producing ~15,000 label variants per product family without relying on legacy servers. A digital adoption platform accelerated user ramp-up with in-app guidance for new Dynamics UX patterns, while cloud cost optimization solutions (tiered storage, right-sizing, scheduled non-prod runtime) kept spend aligned to real usage. The net effect: fewer integration incidents, stabilized month-end, and materially fewer manual handoffs across regions.

What the Business Wins

By treating standardization and adoption as product work—not just a cut-over—the client gained a scalable backbone for growth. LeanCoded formalized api integration support (SLOs, partner sandboxes, contract testing) to reduce partner onboarding from months to weeks, while a digital adoption platform kept help-desk volume down during the transition. Ongoing reviews align run-rate with cloud cost optimization solutions and retire remaining custom utilities.

  • Scale — One ERP across 3 regions, ~400 daily users
  • Continuity — ~15,000 label types preserved; zero downtime at go-live
  • Velocity — Quarterly release trains; fewer ad-hoc hotfixes
  • Reliability — Contract-tested interfaces; fewer integration incidents
  • Visibility — Unified data for finance, supply, and repairs

Roadmap: From Stabilize to Optimize

The next phase extends telemetry, anomaly detection, and automated reconciliations. Shared connectors and api integration support accelerate new distributor and 3PL onboarding. Additional low-code scenarios target inventory adjustments and service scheduling, supported by devops services for secure ALM. Quarterly governance tracks savings from cloud cost optimization solutions and prioritizes UX improvements through the digital adoption platform.
